So I am no expert in make up. To be honest, I just recently started to feel comfortable with it in the last year. There are so many shades, so many choices, and really it can all be super intimidating. I still don't claim to know everything but I have found a simple routine that works for me. I've also come across some products I really love that I keep using and keep buying. I have spent a lot of time watching YouTube tutorials on how to apply make up and I also like to watch a lot of videos on the best drug store make up. I personally enjoy buying the drug store products but also can appreciate the beauty of the favorite brands among the displays of Ulta and Sephora! Of my favorite go to products listed above, everything is under 10 dollars EXCEPT for the full brush set and the liquid lipstick which was a splurge for my wedding day.
Here are my current favorite products;
1. Airspun Loose Face Powder in the shade: Translucent. So I have a favorite beauty vlogger who talks about this product constantly. I was wanting a setting powder because I have oily skin and was hoping for something that would help keep my make up in place. While the packaging looks pretty old school, this stuff works great and you can find it on Amazon or even at Walmart. There is a very slight scent to it but I don't find it bothers me much.
2. Illuminate Cosmetics Brushes by Ashley Tisdale. I have never owned a complete brush set before. Well, to be fair, I've never used enough products to need one. I had a few random brushes from Wet N Wild (which are also great, btw) but I was wanting a full set because I have started contouring and was looking into learning how to apply eye shadow. Ashley Tisdale recently released a cosmetic line and I have been so impressed with the products she has released so far. We used one of her face and cheek palettes for wedding day make up. She recently released this brush set which is in a gorgeous color and it comes with 8 brushes in total. So far I am super happy with them. They are super soft and work great. They even have their names listed on the box for people like myself who wouldn't know what to use them for just at first glance.
3 Wet N Wild Contouring Palette. As you can see I use this one daily. I have the shade : caramel toffee. Contouring seemed like something that was super intimidating and could go horribly wrong if it wasn't done right. This kit came with a bronze color and a highlight which I liked and on the back it gave you instructions on where to put both shades on your face before you blend. I've found this to be easy to use and give me a subtle contoured look that I'm going for. (PS sorry if you think this looks not as pretty, I didn't wanna buy brand new products just for the post)
4. Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder. This highlighter is another drugstore favorite I randomly stumbled across. Again, I was looking to try out using highlighter but didn't know exactly how to wear it or what brand to buy. I found this one at Walgreen's and let me tell you, I love it! It has a great glow/shimmer and applies so nicely. I usually only use Highlighter in my make up routine on the weekends or if I'm going somewhere special. I like to wear this on my cheeks and usually dab a little in the corner of my eye. If you are wanting to try out highlighter, I highly recommend this one or to try out one's from Colour Pop!
5. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. I think foundation might be one of the most overwhelming make up products for me to pick out! I spent years using Bare Minerals powder foundation because I thought it was best for my skin and to be honest, I was worried to go back to liquid foundation. I'm always worried it'll be cakey, be the wrong color, or just feel heavy on my skin. When I finally decided to go back to drugstore foundation, I tried out the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. I use the Matte + Poreless edition because I have oily skin like i said. I LOVE this foundation. It goes on great, feels light on my skin, and I found a color that matches so well. I will admit I haven't tried other drugstore brands that beauty gurus rave about because I'm worried I'll spend money on the wrong shade, but currently I'm very happy with this one!
6. ColourPop Brow Pencil. I will admit that I am a bit #blessed in the brow department. I have thick brows that I don't have to do a lot to to be happy with them. I have recently learned how to fill them in some and to brush them to keep them in place. Leann got me this ColourPop brow pencil for Christmas and I love it. I love the color and its very easy to use. I recommend ColourPop all across the board actually. They are affordable and have some great products for eyes, lips and face!
7. Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer. Okay but I legit have like 4 of these concealers in my make up bag right now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this concealer. It goes on SO well and really brightens my under eyes which are naturally darker. The price varies at different stores but I consistently love it. This is one product I use daily and keep with me at all times if I need any touch ups or to conceal anything throughout the day. This product has such good coverage, I sometimes just apply this to certain areas and use some powder as my base for the day. It's so great.
8. Meet Matt(e) Hughes Liquid Lipstick. It's no secret that liquid lipstick is having it's moment right now! And I have fully signed onto that trend. When I first started wearing lipstick I would have such anxiety about it coming off, smudging, or getting on my teeth. Then liquid lipstick came around and you could eat, drink, and go through the day without really having to worry about it. I've found that some brands are better than others. A few of my faves are NYX soft matte cream, ColourPop liquid matte and this brand pictured above is one I will wear all the time. I was recommended this brand and color for my wedding day. It's a great neutral pink on my lips, doesn't dry them out, and I love the formula of the brand. It is more of a splurge and you can actually buy this brand in store at Kohl's but I love it so much. I also wear lipstick more on the weekends but my goal is to start wearing it even more. It just really pulls my make up all together and I love the look of it.
So there you have it. A list of my favorite products from your average girl attempting to put on make up. I really have grown to love make up and appreciate the art of it lately. I'm all about wearing it if it makes you feel good or not wearing it if you don't want to!
Do you have any favorite products or ones you've been wanting to try? And are you into high end products or drugstore? Let us know some of your favorites because we love finding new things to try out!
Life's a Peach,
Tori
