Birthday Part 1: Adventures in Austin

Last week we spent the day in Austin as an early birthday celebration. The weather was questionable, but it turned out to be a nice day...Just a few showers here and there.

Austin holds a special place in our heart. It's where Kell and I had our first date, we worked just out side of Austin in 2010. We ended up working full time at that camp and considered ourselves Austinites (we lived close enough) for 2 years, and Finley was born in Austin. ATX is easily my favorite place in Texas. It is full of great food, great coffee, music, unique shopping, and lots of other great things for exploring. I talked Kell out of our normal Torchy's meal to try out Shake Shack. Shake Shack is on my NYC bucket list, but lucky for me it has made its way to Texas and I have been dying to try it.

The food was good and the company was adorable. We got there almost right after they opened so there was no line! Yeah! That milkshake tho. It was my favorite.

There are certain things we like to do when we go to Austin. These things always include coffee, tacos, target and Whole Earth or REI (this time we went to both). We also like to visit new places we discovered through instagram and facebook. YAY SOCIAL MEDIA.

Finley loves wheels. This is where we spent most of our time in Whole Earth. We also snagged this sweet hat and I cannot handle how adorable Finley looks in it.

Gypsy Wagon is a shop I follow on insta. They are as dreamy as I expected.
Gypsy Wagon has 2 locations: Dallas & Austin.
Summer Moon Coffee is one of our favorites that we discovered on accident one time. There is so much good coffee in Austin that we have yet to discover, but sometimes you just gotta go with what you know. And we know the Half Moon Latte pretty well.

We also stopped at the Hope Outdoor Gallery and East Austin Succulents. The weather made our adventures a little muddy, but it was worth it. We (aka I) was pumped to do all the cool things and I got to bring home some succulents with me.

My shirt and Jeans were from target. Entire look under $20! YAAAASSSSS! and of course..Chacos.

The down side to the outdoor gallery was all the mud and puddles. we couldn't let Finley roam cause he goes straight for the water.

Also, it was nap time.

But dang, he is just the cutest little kid ever. He is definitely the best dressed in the family.

I was like a kid in a candy store at this place. Kell just laughed at me the whole time. I am also unashamed to admit I follow trends, and succulents are definitely trending right now.

This twist braid  by Missy Sue Blog was so easy and a different take on the braid. I braid my hair almost everyday right now, so I am trying to get creative.

It was such a fun jam packed day in Austin, we ended it with mexican food with some friends. It was the perfect ending to an early start on my birthday. My husband is really a boss at Birthday's.

  1. Fantastic photos from early birthday celebrations. Your kid looks adorable in these photos. We too booked a local event space for hosting our daughter’s 7th birthday and liked the place a lot. Had an enjoyable time with everyone.
