A Lesson in Instax Exposure

Remember when I told you about my Fuji Instax? I still love it that is for sure, but I have learned something recently: it really does matter which icon you choose for your exposure. I thought for a minute it did not matter because I was noticing that it flashed no matter what setting I had it on. I realize this was a silly thought.

This one time it took me 3 tries to get that right exposure, and I am going to share it with you.

Here are my 3 attempts to get the appropriate exposure.
I was in the shade on my front porch.

The photo on the left was under exposed. I had it on the "house" setting. I think I took the over exposed photo first and it was so washed out that I went to the opposite extreme to get the most light out. P.S. can we talk about how cute my little hand model is? This was not practiced, I just got lucky that he wanted to touch all the pictures.

The photo on the right was over exposed. Like I said above, there was way too much light. I thought since I was outside and the sun was shining that this would be a great choice. I did not take into account that I was under the covering of the porch. I am a genius, I know.

Third times a charm, guys. I chose the "cloudy' setting and it worked perfect for the shade. This photo of a photo doesn't make it look that great, but I promise it was the best choice.

Moral of the story: The "cloudy" setting works perfect for shaded areas as well as a cloudy day.
