Valentine's Date | One Dress, Two Looks

Valentine's Day is tomorrow! We never make big plans for V-day, so it always sneaks up on me. I love showing my dude some love, but I am not about making it all extravagant (luckily neither is he). Our Valentine's dates always include food and usually a movie. Almost never on February 14th. Tomorrow we will spend the day in town grocery shopping, going to our doctor's visits and eating heart shaped food. I think we decided to come home and make us a nice dinner and watch a movie. Simple and Sweet. Just the way we like it.

The Camp we live and work at is hosting a Couple's Retreat this weekend, so we are going to attend that. We are even going to stay in one of the Camp hotel rooms one night as our little "getaway" before Gwen makes her arrival. We are lucky to have so many great neighbors who love to hang out with Finley, and Finley loves to hang out with them.

I have never been a huge fan of pink, but lately I cannot get enough of the blush, mauve, and muted pink colors. This dress from Pink Blush Maternity pairs perfectly with jeans or with boots. I also plan on wearing this dress post baby bump. All. Summer. Long. I love having versatile pieces in my closet. I wanted to have more than one date night (or day) options, so I came up with two ways to style this dress.

For my first look, I went casual. My jeans were just a normal pair of maternity jeans from old navy and I distressed them myself. I cut the hem off the bottom to make them ankle link and give them frayed edges and distressed the knees. I am obsessed with well worn denim right now. I think 90% of my jeans have holes in them and I am perfectly fine with that. This look is so comfortable and easy which is perfect for my current condition.

For my second look, I went more edgy. I have been dreaming up this look since I got these boots for Christmas. They have been on my fashion bucket list for 2 years. They do not disappoint. I think my sister got them off of Jane.com. If you have not heard of this website, you're welcome and I am sorry. I made my choker in like 1 minute with some leather cord. I cannot wait to wear this when I am no longer pregnant. I think I will be more comfortable in this look sans bump.

I really love both looks, but I will probably end up in the first look. It will be more appropriate for day time and tomorrow's forecast.

P.S. This dress is one sale NOW and comes in two other beautiful colors, and it is so soft!

What is your go-to Valentine date look? Casual? Preppy? Fancy? Edgy?

  1. Good improvisation with the dress and I wish you best of luck and to your expecting baby. I do wonder that people are so romantic that even after marriage they plan a valentine.
